How we can help - How do you test your build solutions?

Published by Richard Parry on 14th Dec 2018

All systems built at our facility, whether they are using a barebone system, a complete ground up build or upgrading a pre-built system (such as a DELL or HPE) undergo our full multi-point check.

If a system doesn’t have an OS installed by us we will run BurnInTest Pro. This boots off USB/Network and runs our own customised tests, which normally include the HDD/SSD, Network, CPU and RAM. We will run each component at 100% load for a typical 24-hour stress test. If anything fails during this period, we would contact the customer and advise that a part has failed and needs replacing – fortunately this doesn’t happen very often.

As an optional extra we can also provide a certificate for each system – in PDF format (or printed and included with the server) to show the full test certification and also key information during the test period, such as temperatures and voltages. As standard these certificates don’t include any branding but upon request, we can brand these up to your own logos and colours – Just let us know if that is needed.

If your system has multiple GPUs as an example, we may also install an operating system in a test environment (Windows for example) and run several benchmarking and stress test tools suitable for the GPU application. This is often important in a multi-GPU system.

We can also follow specific test procedures or use specific software based on each customer own requirements – For example for many of our broadcast customers we will use custom software to test the output of video capture/output cards (Blackmagic is popular) and connect these via SDI/HDMI connections to a broadcast monitor supplied to us by the customer. We hold free-issued test equipment from our customers.

If you would like to discuss the testing procedures in more detail or would like to design a test procedure for your own solution/product, please get in touch and our solution specialists would be happy to help.
