If you want to put your rackmount chassis into a cabinet then you will need a rail kit.
Rail kits have two jobs - They allow you to easily slide the server in and out of the cabinet safely - for both maintenance as well as the initial install, but they also provide support by using the front and rear posts on the cabinet for support. Without support on both ends of the chassis it would easily damage the rack ears. The only exception being short depth chassis which do not require rail kits.
Rail kits are brand and model dependent unless we have specifically validated it. If you are unsure which rail kit to choose or compatibility with your chassis or cabinet, please get in touch. and we would be happy to help.
