Microsoft to release R2 versions of flagship Server OS Server 2012

Published by Richard Parry on 19th Mar 2013

Microsoft has recently confirmed that it will be releasing a R2 version of its Server 2012 operating system and IT resource management software system centre 2012 will enter preview later on this month.

A 2014 version of SQL server will be available to preview later this month and is expected to make its debut in the early part of 2014.

Microsoft made this announcement during the opening keynote of its TechEd conference in New Orleans, Louisiana.

This new OS will promote better workplace security and personalize policies for things such as SharePoint and network access.

What we've done now with all these capabilities is allow you to put policy first and foremost on the user's identity, and then also based on the identity of the device. Says Brad Anderson, Corporate vice president of Windows server and server centre programme management.
