Windows 2003 End of Support - Migrate Now
11 Year’s goes quickly doesn’t it! In 2014 this is how long Microsoft Windows 2003 Server has been around for.
Released on the 24th April 2014 this OS was a major leap-forward for IT. It was a major redesign since the days of Windows 2000. It has a sleeker interface, significantly quicker and tons of new features, such as DFS, IIS, ISCSI support and many more. It quickly allows replacement of aging NT 4.0 and 2000 computer networks.
Unfortunately as of writing over 50% of businesses still use this product for their office servers and/or web hosting and Microsoft a year ago advised that support will cease on the 14th July 2015. This doesn’t seem like a long time away, but anybody using 2003 Server in a business critical installation should consider migrating to either Windows 2008 or Windows 2012 Server.
Typically also businesses using 2003 Server would be using much older hardware, which would have gone end of support from their respective vendors many years ago, so any hardware failures could also be an issue for a business.
If you are running Windows 2003 we can help you. As a Microsoft reseller and registered Partner we will work closely with you to supply applicable software for the migration. There are a lot of things to consider, such as whether to go with 2008 or 2012 server, what hardware upgrades you may need to make, plus also the effect this will have on your business uptime.
