Introducing Ablecom

We’re really excited to confirm our partnership with Ablecom for the supply of quality rackmount PC and Server chassis.

Ablecom are a sister company to Supermicro, ran by the same owners and manufactured in the same facilities.

While Ablecom only have a small range of cases, their new products have taken the market by storm.

Their range includes Mini ITX PC Cases, designed for use installation as desktop or for mounting on the back of monitors using a VESA mount. They are ideal for office installations, but are also proving very popular as digital signage player platforms. Their Mini ITX standard fitting allows for a very wide range of motherboards to be used, from any manufacturer.

Their other range includes rackmount cases. Currently they are offering 2x 2U Rackmount models, but these are really exciting – They are short depth, 8x or 12x bay 3.5” hot-swap.

What sets Ablecom apart from Supermicro is purely the cost. They are a fraction of the price of Supermicro, but there is no risk of lower quality. We’ve reviewed all of their products and really pleased that they are manufactured to a very high standard, with excellent pinpoint quality control. They are a budget chassis, but with enterprise quality features.

Ablecom CS-M50



This small but mighty Mini ITX chassis is a perfect NAS or home server chassis. For the price you get the full chassis, with 4x SATA 6Gbps Hot-Swap 3.5” bays, 250W ATX PSU and Mini ITX support. Internally you can also install a slimline DVD/Bluray optical drive and up to 2x 2.5” Fixed Internal drives, such as SSD’s.

These cases have a fitted 120mm 4 pin PWM fan at the rear, which is super quiet. We did some tests with these cases (and installed drives and fans) and found them to be whisper quiet and you could barely hear the unit running – the quietest server we’ve ever come across!

Coupled with a Supermicro or similar Xeon CPU motherboard you could make a really powerful and capable virtualisation, NAS or production office server.


Ablecom CS-R25



This is a fantastic, short depth 2U storage server chassis.

It has 8x 3.5” SATA/SAS 6Gbps hot-swap bays, connected to a MiniSAS backplane (2x MiniSAS connections).

The chassis is available in a 7x slot low profile, or 3x slot full height backplane. The 7x slot low profile is the popular stocked model, but we can obtain the full height version.

Internally there is room for an Standard ATX motherboard, so will be capable of use with all modern motherboards, including Mini ITX, Micro ATX and Standard ATX (max 10” depth).

The chassis can also accept a standard 2U Single or 2U Dual Redundant PSU, mounted at the rear.

In addition, the chassis can have 2x 3.5” fixed internal drives, ideal for use as a mirrored pair for the OS. There is also then room for a Slimline DVD/Bluray optical bay.

Ablecom CS-R26



This is almost identical to the CS-R25 model, but has 12x bays instead of the smaller model. It cannot accept any internal fixed drives or slimline optical though.
